NLGFC Urges Utilization of Youth Skills in Government Projects

By Mercy Chaluma

The Board Chairperson of the National Local Government Finance Committee (NLGFC), Commissioner Richard Chapweteka, has urged Ntchisi District Council to prioritize engaging beneficiaries of the Youth Skills Challenge Support in government projects.

The appeal was made during a visit to COMSIP groups in Traditional Authority Chilooko in Ntchisi, where the board toured displays of products crafted by the youth, including welded windows and carpentry work.

Commissioner Chapweteka expressed satisfaction with the quality of the products, emphasizing the need for the council to involve the youth in its projects to promote local development.

"Touring the displays I have seen the quality of the products displayed by the youth. I would like to make this appeal for their involvement in the council's project, so that they as people from Ntchisi benefit and so that they put their skills back to Ntchisi, where they got government support from," he said.

In response, District Commissioner Anne Zimba welcomed the appeal and pledged the council's support for beneficiaries of social protection programmes in the district.

COMSIP is implementing the Livelihoods Support Programme, a core sub-component of the Social Support for Resilient Livelihoods Project SSRLP - Tidzidalire, whose implementation unit is the NLGFC.
