Gunn Jorid Roset, Director General of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation - NORAD, has expressed her admiration for the collaborative efforts of government and non-governmental agencies working together to achieve the objectives of the Social Support for Resilient Livelihoods Project (SSRLP).
Roset made the remarks during a visit to the Kachitsa Micro-Catchment under the Climate Smart Enhanced Public Works Programme and COMSIP groups in Salima district.
The visit aimed to appreciate the progress made in the project, which is being implemented with financial support from the Social Protection Multi Donor Trust Fund, with NORAD as one of the partners.
"I am impressed with the resilience of the communities and urge them to share knowledge across all components to achieve sustainability. I will be back in the near future to appreciate sustainability," Roset said.
Director of Poverty Reduction and Social Protection in the Ministry of Finance, Kate Langwe, echoed Roset's views, encouraging participants of the CS-EPWP programme to join COMSIP Savings and Loan Groups to improve their livelihoods.
"We encourage participants to join COMSIP SLG's to achieve sustainable livelihoods. We're impressed with the Income Generating activities COMSIP members have showcased, whose genesis is the CS-EPWP and we urge others to join the groups for their own benefit," said Langwe.
The Social Support for Resilient Livelihoods Project is a seven year Malawi government initiative being implemented with funding from Norway, World Bank, Iceland, UK AID, European Union and Ireland and winds up in December, 2026.
