By Mercy Chaluma

A delegation from the World Bank and the Social Protection Multi‑Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) recently visited Nkhatabay and Mzimba districts to review the five‑to‑six‑year progress of the Social Support for Resilient Livelihoods Project (SSRLP‑Tidzidalire).

The visit highlighted the programme’s three core components: The Climate‑Smart Enhanced Public Works Programme, the Social Cash Transfer Programme, and the Livelihoods Support Programme implemented by COMSIP Cooperative Union.

During the tour, the delegation met with district council officials, toured Climate‑Smart Enhanced Public Works Programme sites, interacted with Social Cash Transfer beneficiaries, and engaged with COMSIP groups.

“We are encouraged by the resilience we have witnessed and we acknowledge the achievements, challenges and lessons learned,” said Arnold Chikavanga, Chairperson of the MDTF and European Union representative.

He added that the visit reinforced the partners’ continued support.

The Social Protection MDTF comprises the World Bank, the European Union, UK International Development, the Embassy of Iceland, the Embassy of Ireland, and Norway.
